| "A number of years ago, during a particularly painful
illness, I read my first romance novel. Its magic lifted me out of my
suffering and I was forever hooked. Who wouldn't be impressed by such
potent, drug-free relief? Since then, I've enjoyed countless romance
novels, had seven of my own published in New York, and discovered that
writing them is just as much fun and reading them."
Emma Prescott, the heroine, is an enigma from start until the very finish. From the moment Morgan rescues her as she flees at midnight across the storm-ravished English moors until the story's exciting conclusion, he can't decide exactly who she is. Is she the bewitching runaway courtesan of a wealthy English mi'lord, a thief cunning enough to have stolen a priceless necklace from the collection of Marie Antoinette, or simply a beautiful, vivacious young woman innocently caught up in circumstances beyond her control? The Caledonian Privateer: available in e-book March 28, 2008 from Awe-struck Ebooks . Available in May, 2008 IN PRINT from www.doubleedgepress.com
The Horseman "Gail MacMillan's latest novel of romantic suspense has already been given top ratings by readers. Published on October 10, 2006, in Houston, Texas, The Horseman is Gail's tenth novel."
"...an
intriguing (story). We don't learn much about the mysterious
Travis until well into the story, but we do know he is a good
man willing to help and protect. But why didn't Mikey
know that Travis is lying when he tells her he is an author? Readers
will wait for the other shoe to drop from the bad guy, Ralph. He
creates a lot of mischief and mayhem, and wants to buy the
lodge from Mikey's aunt and uncle. My favorite secondary
character is Doc, the lead dog who loves to lie by the fire,
but takes command of the other dogs and protects his master.
A fast and easy read, A WOLF IN WINTER has good dialogue, interesting
secondary characters, and good pacing. There is romantic
tension as well as suspense, and is a very satisfying tale." In winter this area is a snowmobiler’s and dog sledder’s paradise. Rustic wilderness lodges offering hearty meals and cozy woods fires abound along the many scenic trails that wind through the forest and criss-cross frozen rivers and lakes. It’s a beautiful country but with its sub-zero temperatures and sudden blizzards, life in these isolated areas can also be deadly dangerous. My husband and I love to snowshoe through this pristine, snow-frosted land with our dogs and I’ve always felt it offered the perfect backdrop for a novel of romantic suspense. It was only after we met the man and his husky who were to become Travis Harding and his dog Doc in A Wolf in Winter that I knew I had the major ingredients for the story. A true wilderness man with the sophistication of a university degree, the manners of a gentleman, and an absolutely delightful sense of humor, “Travis” is a dedicated environmentalist with a deep appreciation and respect for his chosen part of the planet. Like my husband and me, he knows it can be much like a beautiful, mysterious woman…hypnotically alluring but with the potential to be deadly dangerous. Travis’ future partner Michaela (Mikey) is purely the product of my imagination designed to frustrate and fascinate him and eventually fit perfectly into his world. I felt he deserved no less.

Lighthearted and
Entertaining: Good dialogue and interplay between characters,
very natural and easy. The book is lighthearted and entertaining.
The author's love of nature shines through in her descriptions
of the scenery. Good humor and the romantic flair make the reader
wish this story would not end. When Vanessa Walsh promises her editor, Teddi, that she will not become involved with the man to be interviewed for the bachelor-of- the-month magazine column she's writing, she hasn't yet met handsome, charismatic Barret Madison who will be its subject. Determined to be coldly professional, she journeys to the wilderness park Barret is desperately trying to save from destruction. Soon, however, she finds herself not only falling in love with the park but also with the man himself. Haunted by her promise, Vanessa tries to deny her feelings. Breaking her word would be bad enough if Teddi weren't her mother as well as her editor!

the New Brunswick countryside to life. Her love of the wilderness
and its importance in our lives came through with shining clarity.
Descriptions of the North Passage River and the area it passes
through came to life for me, making me want to go to New Brunswick
and see it all for myself." "The author does a very good job in bringing
you into the lives of these two people, allowing you to feel their
emotions and their passions. I enjoyed this read, it was
entertaining and had a little twist of mystery to it. Love, mystery,
entertainment, what more could you want!" “Laced with suspense and adventure, filled
with the wild beauty of the Canadian land and wilderness…a thrilling
read” Alison is stunned when her grandfather Jack Adams dies suddenly and leaves her his wilderness estate The Promise jointly with Heath Oakes, a man for whom she has only the deepest contempt and hatred. Ten years earlier, during one of Allison’s visits to The Promise, Heath, the street-wise son of Jack Adams’s housekeeper had totally humiliated the twelve-year-old girl and, in a few brief moments one moonlight night, destroyed all her romantic fantasies of love and adventure. Furiously determined she’ll never share anything with him,
Allison sets out to break the will. Heath, now a devastatingly
handsome man of wilderness, however, has other plans. There, alone together, forced to pit their minds and bodies against the wilderness and a mysterious enemy that reveals itself in the form of a sasquatch determined to kill them both, Heath and Allison come to a new understanding of both themselves and their unique inheritance.

touching story that will have you wishing you were there. The
surroundings are created in such detail you can visualize every
acre. The emotions and turmoil will keep you turning the
pages."
